What is a Speech-Language Pathologist?
A speech-language pathologist (SLP), also sometimes referred to as a speech therapist, is an expert in communication, including, but not limited to, the area of speech (how sounds are made), language (the message that is being communicated and understood), and cognition (thinking/problem-solving skills).
SLPs require a Master’s degree, extensive clinical training, and continuing education courses to legally and ethically provide evaluation and treatment services.
